MTU Onsite Energy to deliver 40 diesel generator sets and switchgear to worldwide energy company APR Energy. Generator sets based on MTU Series 4000 engines to provide 60MW of electrical capacity. Delivery to begin in April 2009.

Mankato, Minn (PRWEB) March 28, 2009 — MTU Onsite Energy, a worldwide leader in distributed energy systems, recently received a significant order for 40 diesel-engine powered generator sets from APR Energy in Jacksonville, Florida that are initially destined for Peru.

The MTU Onsite Energy generator sets will be used by APR Energy to deliver the Peruvian Energy Authority supplementary power for the utility grid in Trujillo Province in northern Peru. As one of the largest cities in Peru, the power needs in Trujillo have increased significantly in recent years, resulting in an increase in demand on the power grid. In total, APR Energy will provide a combined installed capacity of 60MW – enough energy to power an estimated 30,000 homes in the United States.

APR Energy is a global energy solutions provider delivering short, medium and long term power generation projects, utilizing highly reliable and environmentally friendly generating equipment. Given MTU’s reputation for extremely clean engines and excellent reliability, APR Energy selected MTU Onsite Energy equipment to further enhance its global fleet.

MTU Onsite Energy’s scope of supply includes generator sets based on MTU Series 4000 engines in custom ISO containers, as well as switchgear and custom value added services.

The generator sets will be built at MTU Onsite Energy’s Mankato facility and then permanently affixed within the custom ISO containers, making them into portable power modules. MTU Onsite Energy will provide engineering and staff support for APR Energy during the installation phase in Peru, which is expected to take place between April and June 2009.

“This is an ambitious project with an aggressive time frame,” stated Al Prosser, Director of Sales for MTU Onsite Energy in Mankato, “and it is one that we are excited to be working on with such a global leader as APR Energy. Given the emphasis that both of our companies place on technology and innovative power solutions, it really is a perfect fit.”

After sales support for APR Energy will be provided by MTU Peru, an authorized distributor for MTU Onsite Energy, as well as direct from the factory locations in Mankato, Minnesota; Detroit, Michigan and Friedrichshafen, Germany.

APR Energy has completed numerous fast-track temporary power projects throughout the world and is known for its ability to execute projects in very short periods of time, even in the most challenging environments such as Sri Lanka, Mexico and Haiti.

MTU Onsite Energy looks forward to supporting APR Energy as it continues to grow its global fleet.

American Elements announced it has established a department exclusively to support customer initiatives in the areas of Green Technology & Alternative Energy.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 4, 2008 — American Elements announced it has established a department exclusively to support customer initiatives in the areas of Green Technology & Alternative Energy. A new webpage devoted to understanding the advanced materials essential to Green Technology can now be found at: www.americanelements.com/AEgreentechnology.html. Topics include solar power, fuel cells, recyclable materials and sustainable growth.

Unlike technological waves in recent decades, Green Technology is almost entirely materials science based. Ventures such as Google and Facebook did not rely on advances in materials science for their success. But solar energy panels and pollution-free recyclable automobiles do.

As a result of the substantial number of customer projects American Elements is currently supporting with technical data, proprietary material production and product commercialization consulting, it has elected to establish a department devoted exclusively to research support functions. The new department will assist customers to understand the state of the art with respect to green and alternative energy materials under investigation.

The goal of the department is to advance American Elements’ pledge to prevent customers from investigating known technological dead ends or “re-inventing the wheel” — dedicating R&D funds to previously investigated areas.

For further technical and pricing information on American Elements’ green initiative, please contact your local American Elements distributor or American Elements U.S. corporate headquarters at (1)310-208-0551, FAX (1)310-208-0351. American Elements is America’s leading manufacturer and supplier of engineered and advanced material products with distribution offices in Europe, Asia and South America.

Hoboken, NJ (PRWEB) September 29, 2008 — Soaring oil and natural gas prices, recession fears, and growing concern over global warming are driving Americans to find ways to save money, decrease household energy use, and help the environment. “Energy Efficient Homes For Dummies®” (Wiley, October 2008, ISBN: 978-0-470-37602-7), by design engineer Rik DeGunther, provides homeowners with clear-cut advice, tips, and projects to reduce costs, increase energy efficiency, and cut down on waste and pollution.

DeGunther writes, “If you want to improve the energy efficiency of your home in an efficient manner, you need to first understand the economics of your overall consumption.” To help the reader analyze their own resource use, they can perform a do-it-yourself home energy audit that helps create an action plan based on personal goals. Readers are presented with a wide range of potential solutions, from making better use of blinds and awnings to exploring geothermal options in order to reduce household costs and their impact on the planet.

Full of detailed illustrations and useful tips, “Energy Efficient Homes For Dummies” provides readers with the necessary tools for turning a home into a model of efficiency. Small scale tips include everything from searching for leaks to help seal and insulate a home to installing clever switches for reducing electric bills. Larger scale projects include tasks like making a solar water purifier, creating a complete swimming pool solar system designed to heat a pool using only sunlight, and even plans for how to build an energy-efficient home from the ground up. The majority of the projects and home improvements described in the book are ones which homeowners can do themselves; however, when it is necessary to hire a contractor, DeGunther recommends the most effective way to do so.

Many shy away from becoming more energy-efficient for fear of having to give up a certain kind of lifestyle, but DeGunther shows readers how far even the smallest of adjustments can go. Whether you’re new to the energy-efficiency movement or consider yourself an avid enthusiast, “Energy Efficient Homes For Dummies” is a must have resource!

Like all For Dummies® books, “Energy Efficient Homes For Dummies” concludes with ‘The Part of Tens,’ which includes the ten best energy-efficient investments, ten “ridiculously easy” energy-saving tips, and the ten best solar investments. A helpful ‘Cheat Sheet’ in the front of the book shows the typical power draws for appliances most commonly used every day and also includes a list of handy contacts which can provide more information on energy-efficient technology, guidelines, and resources for energy efficient products and services.

About the Author
