Harlingen, TX (PRWEB) February 4, 2010 — The online recruiting web site Executive Zoom asked Larry Keim Harlingen Texas about the future of Green Collar Jobs, and their possible impact on the state of Texas. Keim first cited a recent Bureau of Labor Statistics report from January of this year that showed of the 44 states with significant changes in employment, Texas ranked second only to California in job loss.
According to Keim there were reports of 8.5 million green collar jobs across the U.S. in January 2008. Two years later Keim says, “While there has been a slow down, it looks like green collar jobs are ahead of pace with most other job classifications.”
Keim also said that a report commissioned by the American Solar Energy Society estimated that the 8.5 million U.S. jobs in renewable-energy and energy-efficiency industries could grow to as many as 40 million by 2030.
Keim says that Texas is in a good position to capitalize on this trend with the potential for solar energy jobs, wind power generation jobs, and other so called “green initiative” jobs best suited to environments like Texas has.
