Energy Curtailment Specialists$25 Million in Funds Allocated to Program Payments

Buffalo, NY (Vocus/PRWEB) February 5, 2009 — Energy Curtailment Specialists, Inc. (ECS), the largest privately held demand response provider in North America, is responding to California’s growing need to power and is launching a new and improved Demand Response Program, Power Pay! California. In preparation for the launch, ECS has allocated $25 Million to participating facilities over the next three years.

Demand response programs are used to maintain reliability with the electric grid during times of high usage, when electric prices soar, and rolling brownouts and blackouts are more likely. In return for a commitment to reduce electric in a crisis, program participants are given significant payments.

With the need for electricity in California rising, many facilities utilize the funding provided by the penalty free program for site upgrades to reduce their overall operating costs. ” Demand response is often a catalyst for businesses to go ‘green’- providing the where-withal and funding, each season and upgrade enabling further energy saving upgrades,” said Jeffrey Bonerb, Director of Operations at ECS. He continued, “We are very excited to introduce our program, Power Pay! California after the success of our previous program, and are now allocating a further $ 25 Million to the program.”

Across North America, ECS customers combine to remove over 1,000 MW from the grid when called into action. ECS is widely recognized for their customer friendly simple programs, having recently been chosen best Demand Response Provider by Energy Efficiency Markets.
