Intertek Launches a Global Green “Paper-Free” Initiative

Chicago (PRWEB) November 7, 2008 — Intertek (LSE: ITRK) , a global leader in testing, inspection and certification services has announced the global launch of a paper-free environmental program for customers’ product testing and certification deliverables. Phase I of the global paper-free initiative launches December 1, 2008, when Intertek will only issue electronic reports, certificates and documentation to its North American customers in its Commercial and Electrical business. The company’s proprietary My TestCentralTM (MTC) client web portal and document repository – replacing paper reporting – will be the electronic clearinghouse for all customer certificates, reports and documentation.
In early 2009 Phase II of the global paper-free initiative will launch with the rollout My TestCentralTM and electronic reporting to Intertek’s Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific customers. The move to a paperless system significantly reduces unnecessary environmental waste. What’s more, it provides manufacturers with faster time-to-data and efficiencies which quicken product launches, reduce costs and increase revenue potential.
“There are two key beneficiaries in our Paper-free Initiative,” said Gregg Tiemann, chief executive of Intertek’s Commercial and Electrical division. “First are the Clients who now have instant access to vital market-entry documentation stored in a secure, intuitive archive. And second is an environment that could stand to see less deforestation and lowered carbon emissions. This is by no means a panacea on any level; but it is a common sense first step to helping clients and our environment at the same time.”
Before December 1, 2008, clients of Intertek’s North American Commercial and Electrical business may register for their My TestCentralTM accounts simply by visiting www.intertek-etlsemko.com/joinMTC and filling out a registration request. Upon account verification, a client representative will be given viewing and administration rights to the My TestCentralTM web portal and their company’s electronic test reports and certifications.
